About the artist
Pierre Muckensturm is a French artist who lives and works in Alsace. His gestural shapes create directional movement that carries the viewer's eye around the work in a seemingly pre-determined fashion. The monochrome palette of the artwork is down to Muckensturm's fondness for the colour black and its clear translation of shapes and lines, which amplifies the positive and negative spaces created within the artwork. After working extensively with curves for many years, he has recently turned his interest to another geometric form: the black cross.
